Scholarship Opportunities
Thinking about college can be very stressful for people who are planning on attending. One of the most stressful parts about thinking of college is the financial aspect. Depending on what college you attend, it can be very expensive. If you go to a community college it will be less expensive than if you attend a university. However, there are scholarships that you can apply for and win. Scholarships grant money to a student and all that money goes towards college. Here are a few different types of scholarships that can be applied for:
Long Reach Federal Credit Union Scholarship- This scholarship is awarded to two seniors who have been accepted to college. The scholarship is for $1,000. The only requirement for this scholarship is that they are a member of Long Reach Federal Credit Union and that the student is attending high school full time at the time of applying. The deadline is April 1, 2020.
West Virginia Promise Scholarship- This scholarship is awarded to students who apply for it and have a 3.5 or higher throughout all four years of high school. It gives any West Virginia college student a full tuition scholarship. Any senior in high school in West Virginia can apply for this scholarship. You can only get this scholarship if you plan on attending a college in West Virginia. The deadline is March 1, 2020.
West Virginia Higher Education Grant Program- This scholarship is given to students who struggle financially with attending or applying for college in West Virginia or Pennsylvania. You are eligible for this scholarship if you are a United States citizen, have been a resident of West Virginia for at least a year prior to applying for the scholarship, have at least a 2.o GPA, and are enrolling as an undergraduate student in either West Virginia or Pennsylvania. The deadline is April 15, 2020.
