Ten Ways to Give Back This Holiday Season
Everyone knows that Christmas is one of the most enjoyable holidays of the year, giving presents, spending time with family, and waking up on Christmas morning to open all of the presents under the tree. One topic to think about is how can the favor be returned. Maybe for families that can’t afford presents or families that don’t know what having a Christmas is like, here is a list of ten ways you can give back this holiday season.
Drive-thru surprise, next time you go through a drive-thru pay for the person behind you, not only is it a kind gesture but it can also make their day if they are having a hard time.
Increasing you tips, whenever you go to a restaurant for the holidays, think about the waiter or waitress that has to spend them at work, by increasing the tip it could maybe help them to get presents for their own family or even just be a nice little surprise for them to come back to.
Volunteer at your local animal shelter, if you volunteer at the animal shelter not only is it a good way to spend time with you family and make the kids happy but it is also a big help to the shelter employees, also if you get in contact with the shelter beforehand, you could bring in food for the animals or new collars.
Bring cookies to a nursing home, everyone likes old people and all that they’ve done for our community, now that they are in a nursing home they don’t get to see as much as they used to, maybe they’re having a rough time and need a visitor and something to cheer them up such as cookies.
Teach your kids the importance of giving, when kids are younger they see Christmas as a way to get presents, as they get older they should be taught that Christmas isn’t about getting presents it’s about spending time with family and giving back to the loved ones.
Write letters to deployed military members, when someone is in a force they can’t always come home for the holidays, by writing a letter to show them that you appreciate them spending Christmas in the service away from their family so that we can live without fear around the Christmas tree.
Thank your local firemen, everyday they risk their lives to make sure no one is in danger, they help the community and some of them do it voluntarily, they are brave men and women that help out of the kindness in their heart, the least you could do is to thank them for all that they do for the community.
Adopt a family, this term sometimes throws people off, when you adopt a family it’s like secret santa, you are given or you choose a member of the family to buy presents for, sometimes families can’t afford anything for the holidays so by adopting a family you are helping a family in need.
Make stockings for homeless people, as we know homeless people don’t have very much money or even family to spend the holidays with so by giving them a stocking you could make their day.
Host a party, show your family and friends what they mean to you by hosting a party for everyone to get together and enjoy each others company.
