Cross-Crountry LKC
On Thursday, Oct. 17, the girls’ cross-country team competed in the LKC Championship meet here at St. Marys High School. Williamstown went home with their third consecutive LKC title, leaving us competing for two other teams for the second place trophy, and we succeeded. Three of our own runners were named first-team All-LKC Honors, those runners were: Senior Jessy Higgins, who placed 9th overall, and sophomores Erica Davis (7th) and Josey Moore (8th). Due to their great efforts, and many PR’s set throughout the team, they were able to easily pick up the second place trophy right behind first place Williamstown. Doddridge County finished in third place with 74 points, and Ritchie came in 4th with 101 points. Overall this season, the girls had a whopping 20 PR’s and have continued to show tremendous improvement throughout their season.
The boys also competed in their own LKC Championship right here in St Marys, where they placed 6th overall. Ritchie County was able to defend their LKC Championship once again for the third year in a row, but only by a small margin of 8 points to the Doddridge County Bulldogs. The Blue Devils were able to finish in 6th place overall with 4 runners finishing in the top 50. Junior, Jacob Elder was named first-team all-conference and finished 6th with a time of 17:17.
