Track Regionals

St. Marys High School’s track team hosted Regionals at the Bill Hanlin Stadium. The schools were Cameron, Hundred, Madonna, Magnolia, Paden City, Parkersburg Catholic, Ritchie County, Tyler Consolidated, Valley, Wheeling Central, Williamstown, Wood County Christian and St. Marys High School.
Williamstown won the girls division regional title scoring 200 points. Ritchie county wasn’t far behind with the score of 101 points. St.Marys had the score of 71 points giving us third place out of 11 teams at regionals.
Our Lady Devils qualified in eight individual events including all five relays. Erica Davis, one of our seniors was the winner in the 100 meter dash with the time of (12.9). In the 200 her time was (26.03), in the 400 (59.1), and in the 300 meter hurdles had a time of (50.8). Erica scored 30 points at the meet and will be favored by charleston to win the 100, 200, and maybe the 400 as well. Virginia Haddox qualified in two individual events, the 1600 getting 4th place and the 3200 getting 3rd. Lilly Hamilton placed 3rd overall in the discus with the throw of (89-4.5). Addison Parks got 5th in Pole vault with (8-06). In the shuttle hurdle relay it was Ryleigh Haught, Josey Moore, Addison Parks, and Kamryn Armstrong placing third overall with the time (1:15.5). With the 4×100, 4×200,4×400, and 4×800 they all qualified with their times in 4th place giving them an entry. The 4×100 as well as the 4×200 team was Sage Harper, Kierstyn Brookover, Caroline Lancaster, and Addison Parks. The 4×400 included Savannah Keife, Caroline Lancaster, Kierstyn Brookover, and Natalie Bartrug. The 4×800 included Sophie Greenleaf, Jaela Davis, Natalie Bartrug, and Erika Becker. In the boys division, the Blue Devils ranked up with 88 points.Wheeling Central Catholic with 92 points.
Ritchie County boys won the title with 120 points. Josh Roush scored (24.5 points) and Braden Hashman scored (22.5 points) giving the boys third place letting them jump to the state meet. Josh Roush qualified in the 100, 200, 4×200, and 4×400. Braden Hashman will be running the 110 meter hurdles, 300-intermediate hurdles and will join Roush in the 4×200 and 4×400 relays. The boys running with them in these relays are Peyton Girard and Evan Doering. Ethan Weikart scored 11 points in the meet qualifying in both throwing events shot and discus. He threw 125 feet, and 10 inches in the discus winning that event with his throw of 40 feet in the shot giving him 6th overall. Joining him at states will be Ty Watkins who was 5th in that event with a throw of 41 feet. Peyton Girard in the 110 meter high hurdles won 5th place and Ryan Kent in the 800 placing 5th both qualifying in the state meet. The Blue Devils will be represented in Charleston with four of their five relay units in action. The 4×100 with Logan Eddy, Sam Tagliarini, Evan Doering, and Waylon Moore placed 3rd including the 4×800 relay with Jay Mote, Reese Westfall, Ryan Kent, and Waylon Moore also qualifying in 3rd place.
